About the album
By the month of October 2022, I had played several shows in Nashville. The Halloween show was the last performance at the venue EXIT/IN before the new owners took over. The future was uncertain.
While I’m processing the loss of the venue, I’m also losing my mind over an amazing performer with hoops and a Cyr. My vocoder comes back from the repair shop. The moment I turned on the vocoder I was overcome. I developed a concept about an alien who abducts the circus queen from earth.
I spent 45 days writing the entire album. On day 45 I went into Welcome to 1979 studios and cut the entire album to tape in 5 hours. I used 4 synthesizers, a drum machine, and a guitar. No computer control.
The last song recorded on the first 2 inch reel was “Breaking Me Inside”. The tape ran off the reel during the final chord. The songs “Wake Up” and “Hurry Back” were recorded on first take. “Exodus” was written ad lib during recording.
I put together a behind the scenes video on my YouTube channel.
